I HAAAAAAAATED Y/N by Esther Yi but loved Idol, Burning. Hoping it’s more of the latter than the former - though synopsis reminds me of Kill the Boy Band.

When I was a new and unpublished author, a piece of advice stuck with me: “Write what you want to read.” There are two genres I grew up adoring and they are fantasy and historical fiction – especially multigenerational stories with messy family drama. Well, I’ve done a few of the former and I’d been itching to write a historical novel inspired by my grandmother’s life, but it took years before I felt I had honed my craft well enough to do the story justice. Jane 미안 on Instagram: "Soyangri Book Kitchen by Kim Jee Hye (translated) Thank you SO much to the booksta friend who gifted me this from my wishlist 😭😭 -- I love this cover but I do wish it was more colorful like the international (?) version. I went into this, expecting the story to mostly follow Yoojin, similarly to Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop. But this is actually connecting short stories of different patrons. So, I felt very meh about Hyunam-dong. I definitely enjoyed Soyangri Book Kitchen a lot more, but I think the books have a lot of similarities too. I really loved Yoojin, even though we don't get as much of her as I would've liked. This book was overall, sweet and easygoing, even though some of the patrons are dealing with heavy hearts. A few parts had me a little bored, NGL lol. But I've been reading a lot of high stress books, so the drastic change up in pace wasn't easy to adjust to. I recommend when you want something to help slow you down, in thoughts and in life. Have you read this yet?"
