The re-rerecording of One Last Song threw me back to being 19 and shaking nervous at the Listen Close tour while sitting across from the artist I'd been following since his short stint on a singing show that shall not be named, trying to remember the questions I'd painstakingly put together without losing my head.
I found out about this version a few weeks prior to Josiah's last tour, and managed to squirrel my way into his sold out show in my city. The last time I'd seen him live was in 2016, where he'd been an opener for another artist. Before that, 2013, where there was barely 20 people. Seeing the room filled to the brim and singing loud was emotional for me, though I'm sure twice as emotional for him.
This song is a reminder that one door closing means another one will open.
